He says Liz Cheney is in that space; she doesn't accept violent authoritarian assault on political system. LZ: Conservatives have always wanted to restrict democracy by openly embracing authoritarianism. But they are turning to authoritarianism because they see their idea of real white Christian patriarchal America under siege from forces of multi- racial pluralism, he says.
