The Safety of Restrictive Fluids in Sepsis-Induced Hypotension
In a group of patients with septic shock, sepsis-induced hypotension, receiving an initial treatment of one to three liters of IV fluids. A restrictive fluid strategy with early vasopressor use did not result in a significantly lower or higher mortality before discharge home at 90 days compared to a liberal fluid strategy. Rebel Emers: We should be using our clinical judgment to determine does this patient need another fluid bolus or should we be moving to vasoactive substances? Either route is totally reasonable and it is up to us to make that decision.
