I think there was more unified thinking earlier in the pandemic, when we were all in this together. It's hard to say that the us ever really had a fully collectivist approach. A individualism is isn't super able with the best forms of public health. But it seems to me what's most palatable in a country like the us are people who want to feel like if i did the thing, and that affects me, that should be what matters most.
