How to Get People to Memorize Facts and Procedures

No good teacher will ever do only memorization. Even if you are a die hard instructionist, that is an inefficient way to learn facts. Educated graduates need a deep conceptual understanding of complex concepts and the ability to work with them creatively. Instructionism is an anachronism in the modern innovation economy case. It's particularly ill suited to the education of creative professionals who can develop new knowledge and continually further their own understanding. Youare not going to be able to develop new knowledge without knowing what's already out there and mastering it. So i'm basically saying that this kind of philosophy is not the answer. Emphasis on 'emphasizing' rather than 'exercising'
