The Utilitarian Response to Robin's Twitter Mistreatment
The most common total utilitarian response is just a stone wall and say that the utility of the unborn or the inconceived doesn't count. There's also the whole issue of like whether wild animals have good lives on average, which complicates things much, much further. You know, Robin Hanson has a thought experiments that along these lines, which I'm not going to name because I don't want to make his life harder than it all is. It would have caused a enormous scandal except he read it when he was less famous. And so it actually is not for sure.
