Using Quantum Computers to Break Cryptography

Presidential candidate Andrew Yang tweeted that because of quantum computing, no code is uncrackable. Peter Schor showed in the 1980s that once you get scalable quantum computers, then that's no longer true. But Google's device has 53 physical qubits; to threaten cryptography, you're talking millions of physical qubits. The biggest application by far will be for intelligence agencies who are already scooping up data and hoping they can one day decode it.
