Government's Contingency Plans Have Got to Prime Ministerial Level
Strikes had a 0.2% hit to GDP, which is not huge when you think we're normally only thinking about growth of 1% or 0.6%. We certainly had the most number of days lost in the last six months of last year - and that's seemingly only going to go up. It looks as though several hundred members of the military will be brought in for border force staff who are on strike at ports tomorrow. But nobody really knows how it's going to work with minimum service levels set by government. And what are the views amongst the economics profession about how much this would contribute to inflation?
