The God of the Weather
Caanites relied heavily on rainfall to assist with the success of their own agriculture. In respect of their deities, bal would have been known as the god of rain or otherwise as the rider of the clouds. We can see from excavation of scripts from ugarit that the local levantine people of the second millennium b c e regard e bal as thegod of the weather.
