i think ursula defends the imagination with a complex move. She defends fantasy, not by distinguishing it from qo kitty lit. But she also isn't fraid of linking fantasy and children tospite the way that very link has been weaponized against both. In america, the imagination is generally looked on as something that might be useful when the t v is out of order. Poetry and plays have no relation to practical politics. Literacy is considered a beginning, not an end. I can imagine living without my thumbs, but not without my imagination. i think the imagination is the single most useful tool kind possesses.
