The gold standard for diagnosis of hypertension are over a 24-hour period. There's also ABPM, which is ambulatory blood pressure monitor. And then finally, there's the HBPM, or patient-driven blood pressure monitoring series. The guidelines would say that this is probable hypertension and that you should consider other testing modalities.
