Emerson's Essays

Emerson is one of the best essay writers in all languages, perhaps only to montaigne. He may not have been a great poet, though he did write some wonderful poetry. His art, however, necessarily is his essays. And i can find few examples as resonant, as beautifully wrought in the history of non fiction in english re the prose of jonathan swift,. The tale of atab battle of the books is wonderful. Am emerson is up there with him.
