The Importance of a Framework in Psychoanalysis
I think you'd be kind of lost if you didn't have it as an analyst. Wandering through a patient's mind without some kind of a roadmap could probably be really bewildering. It doesn't mean that they're not open in a certain kind of way to hear from the patient and what their responses to what you think or what you're kind of reading in their life. But the idea is to use that. And it's about a general kind of humanism, what it takes to be a human being and why human beings suffer the way they do.
