Nani is a very common name here. I don't know if they named her that because of those meanings. It does seem like a kind of randomly lucky guess. The documentary also expanded on the fact that they were looking for up until this decision to set it in Hawaii was to put it somewhere that there just wasn't a major city or like there wasn't a huge commercial airport.
