The CODA Trial and the Short-Term Results

The CODA trial started about five years ago, the first large-scale U.S. trial of this issue. 1,552 people got randomized to either apodectomy of any type or antibiotics 10 days. 3 out of 10 people in the antibiotic arm ended up having an appendectomy by 90 days. People with an appendicolith at a higher risk, about 41%, versus 25% if you did not have one.
