The Monarchy - A Strange Place in Our Political Life
The monarchy occupied a very strange place in our national political life. It is patently and unalguably undemocratic, but if we had a vote on whether or not to keep it, Paul suggests that people would vote overwhelmingly in favour of it. I don't think getting rid of one of the only things that has actually been working well in our public life should be too high up our democracy fixing to-do list.
