The Role of Thyroid Hormones in Thyroid Function
T3 is really the biggest, most active of the hormones. T4 could do that, but it's not the primary driver of thyroid receptor actions. And then there's receptors on the outside of a cell that can bind T4 and T3 and do what we call non-genomic actions. But both are active, but T3 is the dominant active hormone.
