I had a sense of being lesbian from a very early age. My life went on fairly uneventfully, except that I did find myself being very much attracted to women and falling in love with one or two. The debates were going on about same-sex relationships,. but there was a real fear in me of being outed. And almost the more exposed I got to the conversations and the debates, the more fearful I became of being known as not just a lesbian, but as somebody in a civil partnership.
