The Dictatorship of the Proletariat

In the 1850s, Marx and Engels spoke as if the dictatorship of the proletariat was about seizing control of the state. The anarchists thought that this was wishful thinking at best, and opportunist deception at worst. By people's rule, they mean the rule of a small number of representatives elected by the people. This is a lie, behind which lurks the despotism of the ruling minority.
