Osiris and Dionysus - Is That a Parallel?
The religion of Osiris and Isis, which is called the Isis cult only because it was a religion originally alien to the Hellenistic culture. It was imported. Sometimes that's all cult means. The mystery cults were like that. They were imported religions and that's, so it didn't have the idea that we used today. There's one fly in that ointment in that Osiris was probably worshipped more widely in the time of the early church than he was in ancient times.
