The Importance of Stepping Away From the Church

Some men stay in ministry almost out of a sense of guilt. And they add guilt on top of their depression, which I think can have a very, very unwholesome effect. But if your own heart has grown hard and harsh and critical and cynical and angry toward the people that you're meant to love and serve, you may at least need to step away for a time with that heart. That's a great category to bring up. If there is sin that needs to be confronted or even disciplined in the church, that may be the case where this person who is causing these problems really is in sin and needs to be called out.
