Shawlaw: I feel like so many people who are listening, they come from these rich cultures, rich backgrounds. And that shame prevents them from even opening a textbook or signing up for a language class. "When we let language die, we let history, tradition, essence of our ancestors, and where we come from die," she says. Shawlaw: My biggest advice would be to take a huge pinch of honesty, look in the mirror and not be scared.
