The Mystery of the Flatwoods Monster
In 1952, a woman in Flatwoods, West Virginia reported seeing a glowing monster. The story went viral and hundreds of tourists flocked to see it. Bob Greene says the timing couldn't have been more poignant for people who were worried about visitors from outer space. He says there was also growing anxiety over nuclear annihilation or attacks from an aggressive nation.
