The Relationship Between Adenosine and Wakefulness

There are two clock dependent periods of maximal sleepiness. One in the late afternoon, three to five PM, that's the dip that we're talking about wanting to avoid. And one towards the end of the night, 3 to 5 AM, that's classically thought of as being the point of highest sleep drive. So let's go back to our caffeine episode and think about that idea that we see caffeine still working, maybe up to six hours after an ingestion.
