The Battle of Brunenberg

The poem is known as the battle of brunenberg and it's one of the important poems of the entire old english period. It describes how the men fought from sunrise to sunset, and how the battlefield was covered with blood. The poet refers to the battlefield as camp steta or camp stead. This was actually a common term for a battlefield. But why would they call a battlefield a camp stead? They aren't camping out. They're fighting.
