Serverless Kafka: The Future of Development
The term serverless entered our collective consciousness as a development community through AWS Lambda. I've occasionally described Confluent Cloud that way and I don't think that's any part of Confluent's official go-to market or approved phrasing but here I am on the podcast saying it anyway. What you pay for is writing and reading and storing. And if you don't do any of those things, there's no residual cost. That scale to zero or no residual cost is my favorite definition of serverless.
