Is It a Diagonalization or a Reductive Heresy?
Yeshahem: diagonalization is often understood as a weak, indecisive compromise between two bold perspectives. But i think what both Paul and augustine are saying is there is an absolute antithesis of the different options that are out therer in the world. So so god comes up with this, with this rich picture of reality, and then people pinch bits of it and forget the rest,. And that's where you get these oppositions. That's why i call them in the book, reductive heresies. There's something abou them that resembles god's truth, but it's part of it, and then it's isolated and blown up to make it sound as so
