Being curious about yourself is a gold mine, right? It leads to self awareness and defeats self consciousness every single time. Curiosity leads to the revelation that 100% even if you didn't think that this is the way you're being experienced. If I remain curious, I don't invalidate their experience. I don't dismiss their experience. Here's the other thing from a negotiation standpoint: You don't even have to agree with their experience. Don't. But you better acknowledge it. The encouragement of it tells your counterpart you're listening.
