The Cold War and the Middle East

The way I think about our situation today is that we're in Cold War II. And this time China is the principal antagonist. It's taken the place of the sort to be evil. But with the difference that the Chinese economy is much bigger than the Soviet economy ever was. In many ways we are in a relatively weakened state, think only of the enormous debt that we've accumulated relative to the Cold War era.
