Isn't Christianity a New Moral Teaching?

i'm not an expert on the old testament, but i have heard some experts say things like the moral teachings of the old testament were radically different then what was going on at the time. I've even heard in the new testament, like the way that women were treated is a lot different. It's more that there wasn't anything that, say, jesus was saying that he couldn't have just gotten from or that wasn't.
