Euclid and the Elements
Euclid is often referred to as the founder of geometry. His book elements is one of the most influential works in the history of mathematics. At least five other works of his er survived, covering perspective conic sections, spherical geometry, number theory and mathematical rigor. The first ever algorithm appears in print here.
