Is an Architectural Education a Risk?

I think of an architectural education in that you study the history of architecture and a lot of it focuses on the architects. And so much of architecture has been done by people who are setting up these structures. Only the smallest buildings can be done by a single individual or a small group. The bigger ones are large group efforts. And like movie making, there has to be someone to bring coherence to the effort. That was my experience. I went to university and found myself worshiping the work of folks like Le Corbusier and Gropius and Miss Vanderot. All we're preparing our designers to do is to apply the grid when real design problems are elsewhere.
