What Was Your First Meeting With Putin?
In your book, you describe meeting Putin for an interview when he very first became Prime Minister back in 1999. A lot of the sounds coming out of Russia at that point were still very conciliatory towards the West. Do you want to talk a bit about your first meeting with him? Yeah, it was actually an interview he granted us my newspaper, D site. It was the first interview he granted to European newspaper, Western newspaper. And so we were very lucky, of course, and happy to see him who was at the time already waging war against Chechnya.
