"I can feel compassion for the child when I think about there, what could be driving their behavior based on a need to get a survival need med or an attachment need med," she says. "It's so common for I'll take teachers out of it because they're not in the same kind of relationship with the child as a parent is." She adds: "As a parent, and I raised my first two children without the benefit of this knowledge, and I absolutely believed that all these behaviors were coming from some sort of limit testing or getting negative attention"
