How Does the Suspense API Work?

The suspense API is a way for Facebook's React app to read data from its cache. It can then tell the server not to render until it has resolved that resource over an IO connection. The idea was first discussed at last year's Web conf in San Francisco by Sebastian Hernández, head of engineering and design on Mark Zuckerberg's social network.
