As long as the world has not reached its final state, this is part of God's plan for creation. Man does not have complete control of everything that happens on earth. We can't stop evolution from happening, so there are species that we can't save and keep from extinction. All we can do is manage the animals we can affect and there are costs to doing that.

The Thylacine or Tasmanian tiger lived in Australia for thousands of years, but went extinct in 1936. Or so they thought. Jimmy Akin and Dom Bettinelli explore the reports that there are still thylacines in the wild as well as efforts to bring them back through DNA technology.
