The Story of Ferdinand Magellan
Magellan was accused of selling captured livestock and pocketing the profits. The charges were a sham, but Magellan went back to Spain to present his case directly to the king. He did this without having leave from his superiors to do so. And again, he asked for more money from the king, citing his loyalty and the suffering he had endured. But the king shot him down yet again, and Magellan was left poor and dishonored.
