The Importance of Poseidon in the Hellenic Pantheon
There's also a reference to Poseidon in the Gigantamaki that you see at the center of Athens. He buries this giant beneath the island and so this is his contribution to the battle of the gods and the giants. In Roman mythology we always seem to see the Romans taking the Greek gods how does Poseidon evolve or how does he change into the Roman god Neptune? I don't think Neptune has quite as much importance as Poseidon has in the Greek tradition but we still hear quite a lot about him.
