Why Isn't the US Layout on the Mac Store Better Than the English Layout?

I build all of my keyboards in NC. My laptop is in the British layout, but I think in the future I might try and remember to just order them a US layout because that's what I'm much more used to now. The default on the British Mac store is the British layout. It doesn't look like they do the work. But I don't really think about it very much because it's just been so long. Like this has been my entire life.
