The Difference Between Alcohol and Food Friendly Wines

The difference between 12% and 15% is monumental. Wine can be friendly with food, but once the alcohol level starts to get too high, then the food has to get denser. If you're drinking a 15% red wine, you're going to need to pair that with some kind of heavy protein like B for L or something large. A delicate red wine, say at 11 or 12%, you could drink it with fish.
