I don't know if less emotionality would be akin to more enlightenment. My proposal is that most civilizations couldn't be more emotional than us because they would struggle with global coordination. I mean, you can imagine scenarios where they consolidate planetary order without becoming less tribal like totalitarianism or some sort of technocracy overload. Yeah, tends to be an unstable thing.
