The Confessions as a Prayer
The first time I read the Confessions, I was flummoxed by it. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it. There are a lot of passages I think that we could look at to get some light on this. Augustine sort of wrestling with what it means to seek God. What does it mean to know him? How do we speak about ourselves accurately? And so through prayer, especially when we turn away from God and sin, we're actually turning against the grain of all creation.
