The proverb of rolling stone gathers no moss was originally supposed to mean that a tree that's moved a bunch bears no fruit. Mosses have a very high fidelity and loyalty to their home places, which is why they don't transplant it well. The Rolling Stones just got that name when a journalist on the phone was like, Hey, what do you call it? Brian Jones saw a muddy waters album on the floor and read off one of the tracks being like, Oh, Rolling Stones? Like Jan Brady, George Glass style.
