The author grew up in Ohio and went to school for creative writing. He eventually got a degree in economics math at Canyon State University. After college, he worked as a consultant with Accenture until his wife convinced him to move to San Francisco. "I had read way too much Wired magazine," the writer says of Silicon Valley days.
