The Rosicrucian Letters
In 1614, a booklet began circulating around Europe. It claimed that there was a secret society of mystical intellectuals called the Rosicrucians. They wouldn't give their names and said if anyone ever found them they would deny all knowledge of it. While the letters may have been bullshit, they didn't come from nothing.
