In some parts of american history, we have looked to the court to be a more far seeing, even sort of unifying body. At its high moments, like brown versus board, it was able to issue rulings that really gave the country a different, new vision of itself. And i don't think we are seeing that to day. So that's what i'm looking at, this question of if the court lurches far from public opinion, what if anything, brings it back in?
