What is prehospital blood transfusion

• Witnessed traumatic cardiac arrest

Products:

• One unit whole blood preferred

• Two units PRBCs if whole blood unavailable

Early experience

• ~28 patients transfused at time of discussion

• Evaluating:

  • Indications

  • Protocol adherence

  • Time to transfusion
