Alistair Campbell says he is not pushing back against someone who has allegedly known him. He argues that in essential services like education, for example, the state should be allowed to do its job well. In ideological terms, Campbell's views are more commonly associated with the economic right? But delivering these goalds at scale will require us to sharply improve accountability, efficiency and cost effectiveness within the government.
