The Sahel Crisis and the Global Warming
We can see anti-Western feeling developing very quickly in the last two years. We need to trust Africans to find their own solutions, but we are to be aware that those solutions might not fit our own expectations. It is only with the Sahelian lens that the crisis could be addressed. This has been a story about how instability in weak states, exacerbated by the climate crisis, becomes a geopolitically significant issue fueling our politics in culture. In the Sahel, we see countries being brought close to state failure by a changing climate. In the polar regions we see the opposite, as the world faces a doomsday scenario of catastrophic melting.
