What Do We Know About Sir Thomas North?
Michael Blanding: Thomas North is a fascinating figure. He's best known as the author or the translator rather this book Plutarch's lives. And we know that that is what Shakespeare used for his Roman plays for Julius Caesar and Antony and Cori Linus they all come from stories from from Plutarch’s lives. But outside of that, not only did he write several other translations, but he led this really colorful life as a soldier in the Netherlands and Ireland as a diplomat to France and Italy. Okay.
