In the book, you've right that and I'm quoting here, if you get efforts to counteract in commonplace, callousness to black suffering requires that the white body be positioned in the place of the black body. If this response can become palpable and indignation can be fully aroused when you do the masochistic fantasy, then it becomes clear that empathy is double edge for in making the other suffering one's own. The suffering is included by the other's obliteration. So there were these kind of ethical and political dimensions to it.
